A 10-meter-long, 400-kilogram python, recently discovered at a construction site in northern Brazil, has surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest python ever recorded.

According to the Daily Mail, construction workers building the Belo Monte dam discovered the python after an explosion in the city of Altamira, northern Brazil. Video footage shows the python chained to a crane, revealing a yellow-spotted belly.

Netizens expressed outrage at the workers' actions in capturing the python. The Guinness World Records recognizes the world's longest python as Medusa, measuring 7.67 meters, kept in Kansas (USA), while the newly discovered python in Brazil is even more "impressive" than Medusa.

"I'm not sure if this is true, but if it is, these workers deserve to be criticized. The python could have lived longer but was killed just for a few photos," one user shared.

However, no one has yet confirmed whether the python is dead or not.

According to a python expert, moving a python up to 10 meters long is quite difficult, especially a wild one.

"Pythons are extremely aggressive reptiles. Even in captivity, they are very difficult to control and can be dangerous. I wouldn't be foolish enough to provoke them," he said.

The Belo Monte Dam is a hydroelectric dam complex built on the Xingu River. It was constructed with the hope of becoming the fourth largest dam in the world.
