Students commended for saving two sisters from drowning.

(Baonghean.vn) - Dang Minh Son, a student in class 8A at Dien My Secondary School in Dien Chau district, was commended and praised by the District Youth Union in front of the school for his courageous act of saving two young children from drowning.

On the afternoon of September 27th, Mr. Giao Quoc Thang, Principal of Dien My Secondary School in Dien Chau district, announced that at the weekly flag-raising ceremony, the Dien Chau District Youth Union awarded a certificate of commendation and praised Dang Minh Son (born in 2003), a student in class 8A, for his courageous act of saving a person from drowning.

Earlier, at around 4:30 PM on September 21st, two siblings, Truong Thi Diep Chi (born in 2011) and Truong Tri Nhan (born in 2013), residing in Hamlet 11, Dien My Commune, went with their grandfather to a barbershop near their home. While playing in a nearby pond, Nhan unfortunately fell into the water. Seeing this, Chi jumped in to save her brother but also drowned.

At that moment, Son happened to be passing by and saw the two sisters, Chi and her sibling, struggling and crying for help in the water. Although he didn't know how to swim, Son still jumped into the pond, pulled the two sisters to shore, and then ran to call for help from people nearby.

The families of the two children were deeply moved by Son's courageous act in saving their two children from drowning. "If Son hadn't bravely jumped in to save my two children in that critical moment, I don't know how much danger they would have been in," said Nguyen Thi Dong, the mother of Chi and Nhan.

Teacher Thang added that Son is a diligent and well-behaved student at school, loved by his teachers and friends. The school will commend Son and encourage all students to learn from his courageous example of saving two young children from drowning.
