According to Major General Doan Duy Khuong, Director of Hanoi Police, in the first 9 months of the year, the city has penalized 3,357 cases of transporting goods exceeding the permitted length and height, and detained more than 1,000 vehicles. Of these, 570 were self-made three-wheeled vehicles, impersonating war invalids, and carrying bulky goods. Authorities are liquidating 220 vehicles and completing procedures to liquidate 350 vehicles.
Hanoi Police leaders said that the situation related to the transport of bulky goods in the city has decreased in terms of both the number of cases, deaths and injuries compared to 2015, however, there was still a heartbreaking accident recently that killed a child and a woman related to corrugated iron. In the coming time, Hanoi's functional forces will continue to take drastic measures to ensure order and traffic safety for the people.
"Hanoi needs to strictly control vehicles carrying bulky goods on the streets, to avoid repeating the tragic accidents that make people worried," Minister Mai Tien Dung expressed a resolute attitude.
