In his recent speech at the United Nations, US President Barack Obama called on the world to learn from a 6-year-old American boy about love for humanity.

Alex, a 6-year-old boy from Scarsdale, New York (USA), has made the US President and thousands of others admire and respect him after offering to adopt Omran Daqneesh, the tragic symbol of Aleppo, into his family. In a handwritten letter to the White House owner, Alex asked President Obama to find Omran and bring the boy who shocked the world with the image of him sitting silently in an ambulance, his face covered in dust and blood, to his home.

“Dear President Obama,

Do you remember the boy who was picked up in the ambulance in Syria? Would you please go get him and bring him to our house?

You can park in the driveway or on the street, we will welcome everyone with flags, flowers and balloons. We will give him a family and he will be our little brother. My sister Catherine will catch butterflies and dragonflies for him.

I have a friend at school who is from Syria - Omar. I will introduce Omran to Omar and we can play together. We can invite him to birthday parties and he will teach us another language.

Because he doesn't have any toys and doesn't have any, Catherine will give him a bunny toy to play with and I will lend Omran my bike and I will teach him to ride a bike. I will teach him to add and subtract. Alex, age 6.”

Touched by Alex's words and heart, in his speech at the United Nations earlier this week, the US President read Alex's letter aloud before posting a video of Alex reading the letter on Facebook.

“Those are the words of a 6-year-old boy. He teaches us so much. The humanity that a child can show, a child who has not yet learned to mock or doubt or fear others because of where they come from, or what they look like, or how they pray. We can all learn from Alex,” the US President said.
