A prisoner serving a life sentence for killing his wife continued to use a box cutter to slit the throat of a fellow inmate in prison.

On September 23, a source from Cam Lo District Police (Quang Tri) said that this unit has just decided to prosecute the case and prosecute Mai Chiem Thang (prior to his arrest, residing in Ward 1, Dong Ha City) for using a knife to cut the neck of a fellow inmate.

According to Cam Lo District Police, the incident occurred in late July and it was not until early August 2016 that the unit received the case file from Nghia An Prison (a prison under the Ministry of Public Security located in Cam Lo District).

After a period of investigation, this unit decided to prosecute the defendant and initiate a case.

The content of the incident was determined that while working in production at team 31 of labor camp No. 1 of Nghia An prison, prisoner Mai Chiem Thang used a paper cutter to cut the neck, face, and hands of prisoner Dau Dinh Long (38 years old, before being arrested, residing in village 3, Hung Chinh commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province, serving a sentence for "illegal drug trafficking"), causing injuries. These two prisoners had a conflict.

Previously, in the early morning of February 2, 2014, Mai Chiem Thang stabbed his wife to death due to a conflict, then turned himself in and was sentenced to life in prison for murder.

While serving his sentence at Nghia An prison, he continued to commit the above incident./.
