On October 1, Thu Duc District Police (HCMC) arrested Nguyen Quoc Cuong (29 years old, from Ben Tre) and Le Thanh Khiet (26 years old, from Bac Lieu) for their involvement in a drug trafficking ring.

According to the investigation agency, a few months ago, detectives discovered a methamphetamine ring going from the North to Saigon. Many suspicious people from Binh Duong went back and forth to Thu Duc district but went around and back.

Cuong emerged as the main suspect. Every day he drove his shiny BMW back and forth from Binh Duong to Saigon, met a few people, and then returned home. Local authorities confirmed that he had no job but lived in a luxury apartment with his wife and children.

Many detectives were sent to follow him and discovered that Cuong would go to the bus station every few days to pick up a colorful toy car for his son. Determining that this could be a drug trafficking method, the police "spread a net" to catch him.

Four days ago, Cuong rode his motorbike from home to Highway 13 (Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc District). On the way, he stopped to give a nylon bag containing drugs to a man when many detectives swooped in and caught him red-handed.

Searching this man's house, the police seized more evidence including drugs, a BMW car, a small scale, and dozens of toy electric cars. Khiet, Cuong's junior who also lived in the same apartment building, was arrested shortly after.

At the police station, Cuong confessed to taking drugs from a woman in Lang Son. When placing the order, they deposited 30% so that the goods could be put into an electronic vehicle and sent by passenger car to the South as normal goods.

Upon receiving the goods, Cuong transferred the remaining money. He and his men divided the drugs into smaller parts and sold them to other customers.
