Through market research and consumer demand, in early 2016, Mr. Ha Van Tuyen, residing in Pong village, Nam Giai commune, decided to test raising 10 commercial ostriches. The care process showed that this animal species adapts well to the climate conditions and food sources in the mountainous area of Que Phong, especially the living area of the family with potential for forest gardens, grass and trees to support livestock breeds originating from Africa.

According to Mr. Ha Van Tuyen, the family's living area has a rich source of food for this relatively new animal. In the photo, Mr. Tuyen's wife is cutting grass to prepare food for the ostriches.

The newly brought ostriches weighed about 10kg each, and after nearly 3 months of raising them, they have increased to 50kg each. It is expected that Mr. Tuyen will sell them at the end of this year. Currently, many customers have ordered ostriches from Mr. Ha Van Tuyen's family at prices ranging from 250,000 to 300,000 VND/kg. Mr. Tuyen said that if he 'wins' this deal, he will expand his investment in this livestock.
