Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan highly appreciated the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and VTV in organizing the program.
“Everyone sees the frustration in the field of food safety, but it has been going on for a long time and has not been resolved,” said Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, adding that a comprehensive solution is needed. Recently, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Government signed a program to coordinate the movement to monitor food safety within 5 years. The signing aims to mobilize farmers to produce safely, mobilize guidance and clearly state sanctions, and have support policies so that farmers can clearly see that safe production is beneficial. People will see that if they want to produce safely, they will be supported with information, methods, input purchases, brand building and consumption support.
Thereby creating a social movement so that farmers can see that unsafe production is not acceptable and forming a culture of Vietnamese farmers producing safely, Vietnamese consumers must be safe consumers.
According to the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan, there are currently 2,045 communes meeting the new rural standards, however, not many communes have announced safe production. Therefore, it is necessary to mobilize each farming household to be a safe production household, there cannot be a new rural commune that is not a safe production commune because this is the culture of the Vietnamese people. It is expected that in 2016, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports will reach 2.5 billion USD, surpassing rice and oil for the first time. This is a huge potential, which is encouraging.
“The launch of the program affirms the determination to move Vietnamese agriculture towards clean agriculture, for the Vietnamese people and for the world,” affirmed Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan.
At the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and VTV General Director Tran Binh Minh signed an agreement to coordinate the direction of the program "Clean Agriculture". Accordingly, the program will officially air from November 1, 2016 at 6:20 p.m. every day on VTV1 channel.
“Clean Agriculture” is a program that introduces and promotes to television audiences nationwide Vietnam's agricultural products and specialties, famous agricultural regions of the country and clean production chains that are currently developing in all provinces and cities.
The program is produced in the form of reality TV with the vivid experiences of the host and reporters. Beautiful images, attractive camera angles, vivid scripts, and friendly storytelling will create a good promotional channel for Vietnamese agricultural products, thereby conveying a message and orientation towards a green, clean, highly efficient and sustainable agriculture.
With the approach of using the good to push back the bad, the "Clean Agriculture" program also introduces and replicates green and clean agricultural production models, thereby changing consumers' awareness of the quality and safety of Vietnamese agricultural products.
Also at the press conference, the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) announced the credit program "Clean Agriculture - the way of Vietnamese agricultural products" worth 50,000 billion VND to support the construction of clean agriculture.
