At noon on October 14, Ms. Le Thi Ky, resident of Hamlet 15-7, Youth Volunteer Force 2 area, Thanh Duc Commune, Thanh Chuong District, said: Last night (October 13) at 7:00 p.m., the herd of elephants continued to appear. The herd of elephants came about 30 meters from my house and roared. Seeing that, many people and my family beat drums, lit fires to chase them away and the herd of elephants left.

“Since the beginning of the year, this herd of elephants has come to my family's garden area three times. This time, the herd of elephants came earlier than the previous times," Ms. Ky added.

Mr. Tran Xuan Cuong - Director of Pu Mat National Park said that this is a herd of 6 elephants living in the core area of ​​the Park. However, recently the herd of elephants often comes out to eat people's crops. The number of times the herd of elephants appears this year is more than in previous years.

It is known that this herd of elephants consists of 6 elephants, 1 small, 3 medium and 2 large. When the herd of elephants walked, their footprints were measured by authorities with the largest diameter of 30-32cm.

After discovering that a herd of elephants continuously returned to the locality to "harass", the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district issued Document No. 2168/UBND-NN dated October 7, 2016 on ensuring safety in the area where the wild elephant herd operates.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district requested Thanh Duc and Hanh Lam communes and related units to regularly patrol and promptly detect elephant herds appearing in residential areas; coordinate with people to take measures to repel elephant herds by beating drums, gongs, gongs, and lighting fires.

At the same time, put up danger warning signs in areas where elephants appear; absolutely do not use tools or weapons to attack, directly conflict with, or endanger or provoke elephants.
