The website published several commercial satellite images showing naval construction underway at the Sinpo South Shipyard, where North Korea builds most of its submarines.

According to analysis by 38 North, a large circular structure captured by satellite images on September 24 shows that North Korea has likely built a submarine larger than the test vessels Pyongyang has developed to launch missiles.

Concerns about North Korea’s naval capabilities have grown since the country conducted its first test of a submarine-launched missile off the port city of Sinpo on August 24. The missile flew nearly 500 km before falling into the Sea of Japan.
