Russia has no expectations for the Syrian peace talks in Switzerland.

According to AFP, on October 14, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he had no "special expectations" for the talks on the Syrian crisis, taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland, this weekend, amid continuing fierce fighting in the city of Aleppo in the Middle Eastern country.

Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying: "I don't have any particular expectations."

Lavrov is expected to meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry and several top UN diplomats and regional powers in Lausanne on October 15. This will be the first talks on Syria since Washington suspended bilateral negotiations with Moscow on a ceasefire agreement in early October 2016.

On the same day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov announced that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem would visit Moscow during the last week of October.
