4 steps to take multiple choice tests that candidates should 'know by heart'

The decision of the Ministry of Education to use multiple choice tests in the national exam for Math is causing a stir. Candidates are also very worried and confused about how to achieve maximum score in this new exam method during the stressful exam period.

Step 1: Read through once

Take the test paper and read through all the questions. Answer the easy questions right away and skip the more difficult ones, which will take you more time to consider and think.

Remember to circle the most important details in the answer, then look for details that match the question.

With the Math exam switching to multiple-choice instead of essay in this year's national high school exam, candidates need to change their thinking and test-taking process to achieve the best results.

Step 2: Eliminate incorrect options

Read each question carefully. Fill in the choices that you think are most correct.

Read each option carefully to decide whether it is right or wrong. Cross out the options that you think are wrong.

Absolute elimination. Choose the options that you think are always true, then eliminate the less likely options by rating them "usually," "maybe," or "never."

Thay vì tư duy phân tích dữ kiện là tối quan trọng ở cách thi tự luận, với thi trắc nghiệm thì việc phân tích phương án là hết sức quan trọng. Bởi nếu biết cách phân tích, nhiều câu hỏi học sinh có thể tìm ra được đáp án nhờ kết hợp phương pháp loại trừ đáp án nhiễu.
Instead of thinking about analyzing data being the most important in essay tests, with multiple choice tests, analyzing options is extremely important. Because if students know how to analyze, many questions can be answered by combining the method of eliminating noisy answers.

Step 3: Choose an answer

Choose "all" only if you know that more than one answer is correct. Double check. If the question ends with a single answer, then there is definitely only one correct answer.

Replacing the answer in the question is also a way for you to check the accuracy of the answer.

Điểm khác biệt trước tiên mà thí sinh cần phải thay đổi đó là lối tư duy “chậm mà chắc”, thay vào đó các em cần thực hiện các thao tác giải Toán nhanh hơn.
The first difference that candidates need to change is the "slow but steady" way of thinking. Instead, they need to perform math problem solving operations faster.

Step 4: Reread the questions you skipped

Reread the questions you skipped. These will be tricky questions that you can’t tell at a glance which answer is correct. Read each question and eliminate the ones you know are incorrect. If you really don’t know which answer is correct, pick the one that you think is the most correct, you still have a 25% chance of success.

Tips:Practice thoroughly before you take the test. You need to know what to do. Guessing or guessing will not help you if you do not really understand the nature of the question.

If you are taking a test with a prescribed format, learn the format beforehand to be more proactive. Buy a book or search for sample tests online.

Note:When taking a multiple choice test, you can still get lucky on some questions, but not all of them. However, to give yourself the best chance of scoring points, answer all the questions. The saying “it’s better to get it wrong than to miss it” is very true in this situation!
