Taxi explodes like a bomb, at least two people dead

A taxi parked opposite the People's Committee of Cam Pha City (Quang Ninh) exploded after a loud explosion, killing two people and damaging surrounding vehicles.

At around 12:30 p.m. on October 3, on National Highway 18A, in Cam Trung Ward (Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh), a 4-seat taxi parked on the side of the road opposite the Cam Pha City People's Committee suddenly exploded. At the same time, a 4-seat car and a motorbike traveling from Ha Long to Cam Pha were affected by the pressure from the explosion.

The taxi exploded, smoke billowed, the person on the motorbike fell onto the road, and the car driving in the same direction next to it was severely damaged. The explosion killed at least two people, many others were injured and taken to the emergency room immediately after.

“I was eating when suddenly I heard a loud bang. Everyone ran out and saw smoke. Many people were injured, at least two people died,” said a witness, adding that the explosion sounded like a bomb.

Firefighters used special vehicles to put out the fire, and both ends of the highway were blocked. Dozens of police were present to direct traffic.
