On the morning of October 10, 1954, military units launched a historic march into Hanoi. In the forest of flags and flowers, with extreme joy, two hundred thousand people of the capital eagerly welcomed the victorious army back. After 9 years (since 1945) of protracted resistance by our army and people, the French colonialists were forced to sit at the negotiating table and sign the Geneva Agreement on July 20, 1954, accepting to withdraw from Northern Vietnam.
