Pregnant cows were butchered by thieves who took their legs.
Thieves sneaked into the barn at midnight, took a six-month pregnant cow belonging to a resident of Phu Yen province to an open field, butchered it, took its four legs, and left the head, tail, and belly...
Mr. Y Tlóa, residing in Ea Trol commune, Song Hinh district (Phu Yen province), was herding his cattle out to graze when he found the barn door wide open and several ropes cut on the morning of October 17th. The largest cow in the herd, which was six months pregnant, had disappeared.
Searching frantically, everyone was horrified to discover the cow's carcass lying in an open field, 500 meters from the barn. "The thieves used a hammer to hit its head, then butchered it, taking the four legs and leaving the belly and tail behind...", said Mr. Y Tlóa, adding that this was the largest cow in the herd of five, purchased over a year ago with a loan from the government for poor households, worth 20 million dong.
