After more than a decade of hard labor, just as he was escaping poverty, an accident struck, leaving behind his wife and two children who were still in elementary school. This is the plight of Luong Van Hung, one of the three victims who died in the quarry collapse in Quy Hop district (Nghe An).

Despite the scorching midday sun, hundreds of people came to offer condolences to the family of Luong Van Hung, who died in the quarry collapse on the afternoon of October 16th. They were mostly neighbors of the victim's family from Quang Huong hamlet, Chau Quang commune, Quy Hop district. In the quiet atmosphere, everyone tried to hold back their tears.

Amidst the white mourning scarves, Mr. Luong Cong Hoang, the victim's maternal uncle, shared tearfully: "Hung lived with me since he was a child. He was kind-hearted by nature. When he passed away, all the neighbors were deeply saddened."

According to Mr. Hoang, Hung "worked at the quarry" where the accident occurred when he grew up. Since getting married nearly 10 years ago, his small family has always faced economic difficulties. "Two years ago, the government helped us build a house. We had only just escaped poverty a year ago when he had the accident, leaving behind his wife and two children, both of whom are in primary school," Mr. Hoang shared sorrowfully.

Mr. Luong Van Hai, the brother of the victim who witnessed the accident, said: "At that time, there were 8 workers at the quarry. 3 were working on the cliff face, and 5 were working on the ground." Mr. Hai added that he and his brother had worked for this facility for a long time and had been covered by insurance since they started working there.

According to information from the Chau Quang commune authorities: After the accident, the company provided initial financial assistance to the victims. Currently, the authorities are investigating the incident.
