More than 300 athletes participate in the Trung Do - Vinh Phoenix Cycling Race

(Baonghean.vn) - Towards the 228th anniversary of Phoenix Trung Do Vinh, on the morning of October 23, Vinh City People's Committee, Nghe An Radio and Television Station organized the Phoenix Trung Do - Vinh Cycling Race 2016.

Immediately after the starting whistle, the athletes tried to gain an advantage in the race.

This is a traditional race held every two years. Through the tournament, we continue to promote the campaign "All people practice sports following the example of Uncle Ho"; create a healthy playground for cyclists nationwide; strengthen solidarity, exchange and learn experiences, tighten the friendship and solidarity between Vinh City and other provinces and cities across the country.

The race gathered 30 cross-handle cyclists and 280 athletes from 34 strong grassroots cycling clubs from provinces and cities across the country. Notably, this year's race had 3 international teams from Japan, Korea and the French Republic.

This race has a route around Ho Chi Minh Square. The cyclists compete in 2 categories, including the category for cross-handle cyclists and the category for amateur cyclists.

In the amateur racing events, athletes are divided into age groups. The age group 56 and over is for both men and women, with a distance of 6 laps of 16.2 km; the age group 25 - 39 with 10 laps of 27 km and the age group 40 - 55 for A-class athletes (advanced events), the cyclists also do 10 laps around Ho Chi Minh Square.

Even though they are amateur athletes, the cyclists' breakthroughs still show high level of skill.

With the spirit of "Solidarity, honesty, nobility", the professional management of the referee team; the efforts and dedication of the athletes, the tournament was a great success.

Award the first team prizes to the winning teams.

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the first-place athletes in each race. In addition to the individual events, the Organizing Committee awarded team prizes, the first prize for the men's team aged 56 and over went to T2 Cycling Ofen Club; the first prize for the men's team aged 40 - 55 went to Vinh City Club; Cat Viet Thai Club won the first prize for the men's team aged 25 - 39 and the first prize for the women's team aged 40 and over.
