The traditional fish sauce market is warming up again.
(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, the Ministry of Health announced the results of testing fish sauce in 5 provinces and cities, with 100% of samples found to be safe, thus "unleashing" the traditional fish sauce production industry. Consumers are now reassured and can return to using this familiar dish, causing the market for this product to gradually recover after a period of stagnation due to the impact of false information.
Official information from the Ministry of Health stating that 100% of the fish sauce samples tested were safe was enthusiastically received by the public, as traditional fish sauce has been an integral part of many family meals.
Ms. Phan Thi Ly (Ha Huy Tap Ward) said: "My family regularly orders Cua Hoi fish sauce for use because it's produced in a traditional village, so the quality is guaranteed; it's fragrant and delicious. Therefore, when we heard about fish sauce containing harmful substances that affect health, we were very worried and confused. Now that the fish sauce has been tested and found safe, I feel reassured and will continue to trust and use traditional fish sauce."

| Customers are confident in using traditional fish sauce, leading to a resurgence in sales of this product at grocery stores. |
People are gradually regaining confidence in traditional fish sauce, leading to positive changes in the market for this product.
Unlike the lack of customers more than 10 days ago when information about fish sauce containing arsenic emerged, at this time, most dry goods stalls in markets have seen a significant increase in the purchase of fish sauce.
A small trader specializing in fish sauce at Quang Trung market said: "For the past 10 days, due to reports of arsenic contamination in fish sauce, customers have been scarce; we've suffered significant losses. Fortunately, in the last two days, customer numbers have increased again, and many traditional fish sauces like Cua Hoi and Nha Trang, even though they are more than double the price of industrially produced fish sauce, are still being bought in large quantities."

Similarly, the fish sauce section at BigC supermarket was also busier. There were no changes on the shelves displaying fish sauce; many traditional varieties were still available. Many customers chose to buy traditional fish sauce, even though the price was often two or even three times higher than industrially produced fish sauce.
Ms. Ha (Quan Bau Ward, Vinh City) said: "My family often uses Cua Hoi or Phu Quoc fish sauce because of its high protein content and delicious flavor. But recently, I heard about arsenic in some fish sauces, and I'm a little worried. Knowing that traditional fish sauces are still safe, I feel reassured and bought a whole case to use gradually. Although traditional fish sauces are more expensive, the important thing is that they are good for our health."
A salesperson at BigC supermarket said: "When the news broke about arsenic contamination in fish sauce, customer numbers decreased by about 5-10% compared to before. But in the last few days, customer numbers have increased again. Traditional fish sauces are being bought more often: Nhuận Phát, Nha Trang…".
Although the information recently released by the Ministry of Health has "vindicated" traditional fish sauce, and consumers are now reassured and can use it again, the losses caused by the false information (about fish sauce contaminated with arsenic) for businesses, especially those in traditional fish sauce production villages, are clearly very heavy, and the consequences will last for a long time…
