Farmers go to the field to take care of melons after the flood.

GrandmaI said: If in previous years, after harvesting summer-autumn rice, people immediately started planting winter cucumbers and at this time they could harvest and sell them, but this year, due to heavy rain, people had to postpone the season and had to take more care. The cucumbers were mounded, fertilized, and water was drained from the fields...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Toan, a melon farmer, said: The income from growing winter melons is three times that of growing rice. In some years, the harvest and price are good, earning up to 10 million VND/sao. At the beginning of the season, the Commune Farmers' Association trains and signs a commitment with the cucumber growing groups to comply with food safety production processes. There is a monitoring group that warns any household that violates the regulations on loudspeakers and does not receive support for seed and fertilizer costs and is not allowed to introduce products to customers to sell... so people strictly follow the regulations.

The melon began to recover.

To gather people to grow vegetables and melons to facilitate propaganda, the Farmers' Association has established 6 vegetable growing groups in the whole commune.

Each group has built a model of “Safe vegetable production” with the participation of the commune farmers’ association and hamlets. Along with promoting the safe vegetable production process, the association also signed a commitment with all vegetable growing households. Every year, the gardening associations organize an assessment of the members’ compliance with safe production. Thereby, typical examples are commended and there are also forms of handling for households that violate the regulations set forth by the association./.
