Another truck in Huoi Co village is in the same situation."
Mr. Hai was the first person residing in the Thai village, nearly 100km from the center of Tuong Duong district, to buy a passenger car and start a grocery business. The asphalt road, which is expected to bring many benefits to people in this particularly difficult area, is currently being cut off in many sections by rocks, soil, and wood. |
Before, when there was no paved road, the people of Xan village were completely dependent on waterways for travel and transportation of goods. People and goods were transported by motorboat from Ban Ve hydroelectric dam, which was both laborious and expensive. Since the paved road was built nearly 2 years ago, the communication between this remote village and the outside world has become more convenient.
Ms. Vi Thi Hue, owner of a grocery store, said: "Before, we only sold retail. From the beginning of September 2016, we invested in construction to expand our business. Just over 10 days later, the flood came, transporting by truck was not possible, so goods had to be transported by boat again."
