(Baonghean.vn) - Coming to Que Phong land, when mentioning good livestock farming, everyone knows Mr. Hoang Quoc Hai, Na Den village, Tien Phong commune. As a lowland farmer who came to the border to make a living, he has a pig breeding farm that earns hundreds of millions of dong each year.

Mr. Hai's pig breeding farm in Na Den village, Tien Phong commune, Que Phong.

Mr. Hai's farm has a total area of 6 hectares, including a pig breeding barn on an area of 2 hectares, a freshwater fish pond of 2 hectares and more than 2 hectares of rubber planted on the hill behind the house.

Mr. Hai confided: Originally from Dien Lam, Dien Chau, the dream of getting rich on a new land was nurtured by him and his wife 15 years ago. On a dilapidated motorbike, they traveled 120km "Westward" to Que Phong land.

In the early days of their career, the couple worked hard to make a living. After many years, they decided to borrow money to reclaim wasteland, hire people to dig ponds, build farms, invest in raising pigs and fish, and provide food for the people in the mountains.

Realizing that food and piglets sold in Que Phong were imported from the lowlands, he was determined to raise pigs for meat and piglets to supply to the people. In 2008, he and his wife decided to raise 35 sows to start with. When they gave birth, many people came to buy them, but supply could not meet demand. From the money earned after selling the first batch of piglets, Mr. Hai gradually saved up to increase the total herd, providing an abundant source of piglets for neighboring mountainous districts.

The farm is invested quite thoroughly, ensuring environmental hygiene.

Currently, his farm raises 150 breeding sows and 7 boars. Due to the large herd, the process from importing breeding pigs, to breeding, caring for them and selling them all strictly follows the steps to avoid risks in raising them. His pigs are fully vaccinated, so there have been no outbreaks of disease in recent years, and strangers entering the farm must be disinfected.

Mr. Hai said: On average, his family sells about 300 piglets each month. After deducting the cost of raising pigs, each year his family earns a profit of over 500 million VND from pig breeding.

Although the supply to the market is very large (about 4,000 piglets per year), Mr. Hai said that the output of piglets is very stable. He and his wife do not need to import because traders come to buy them. Piglets are mainly sold to people in Que Phong, Quy Chau, and Quy Hop. Currently, he is building 2 more barns to continue expanding the herd.

In addition to selling pig breeds, his family also has many other sources of income from growing crops and digging ponds to raise fish. This economic method not only helps him to become rich sustainably but also creates jobs for 4 workers, each with a salary of 6 million VND/month.

The piglets are taken good care of by Mr. Hai.

Mr. Lu Van Tien - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Que Phong said: Mr. Hoang Quoc Hai's pig farm is a typical model in the district, an example of daring to think and dare to do in developing the economy of the highlands. The district always creates all conditions to encourage people to have many effective economic methods like this to help people in the border area of Que Phong rise up to become rich legitimately./.
