The last commune in Vinh City has been assessed as having completed the New Rural Development program.

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 25th, the Steering Committee for New Rural Development in Nghe An province organized an assessment of the results of implementing the criteria for new rural development in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh City. This is the last commune in Vinh City to complete the objectives of the national program for new rural development.

"Districts that meet the standards of the New Rural Development program are awarded a medal and a reward of 10 billion VND."

After 5 years of implementing the national target program for building new rural areas, Nghi Duc commune has mobilized all resources to focus on building a synchronous technical infrastructure. The total capital for building new rural areas reached over 62 billion VND, of which nearly 7 billion VND was mobilized from the people's internal resources, and the people donated 2,500 square meters of land to open roads.

The entire commune has nearly 18km of asphalted inter-commune roads and 45km of concrete roads within hamlets. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, and many investment projects have created jobs for hundreds of workers. The poverty rate has decreased to 2.7%, and the average per capita income has reached nearly 29 million VND/person/year.

All three schools operate with quality standards; the preschool and primary school meet national standards, and the secondary school achieves universal education. The political system is stable, and security and order are secure.

Currently, the commune has met 18 out of 19 criteria. The only criterion that has been removed from the assessment is the rural market criterion, as there is currently no market in the commune and a planning request is being submitted. Therefore, the appraisal council has agreed to exclude this criterion from the evaluation objectives.

After evaluation, the members of the Steering Committee unanimously agreed with the results achieved by Nghi Duc commune in the process of building new rural areas. At the same time, they requested the People's Committee of the commune to incorporate the members' feedback, complete the dossier according to regulations, and submit it to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for recognition as a new rural commune in 2016.
