According to the indictment, on April 25, 2016, Quach Huu Viet was hired by a man named Tu (from Lang Son) to transport 6 packages of crystal meth from Hoang Mai town to Vinh city for 5 million VND. After bringing the drugs to Vinh city, Viet hid them under a bush near the Vinh market bus station.

At around 8pm on April 26, a man named Ha (Tu's partner) called Viet to get the drugs. Ha drove Viet to the place where the drugs were hidden and then drove him to the area in front of Hoang Anh 2 motel, where he was checked by Vinh City Police. Taking advantage of the loophole, Ha fled. Viet was arrested with 443.25 grams of synthetic drugs (methamphetamine).

At the trial, Quach Huu Viet confessed his crime. In March 2012, Viet was sentenced to 12 months in prison for receiving property obtained through criminal activities. In May 2012, Viet was sentenced to 24 months in prison by the Thai Hoa Town People's Court for theft. Combining the two sentences, Quach Huu Viet must serve a total sentence of 36 months in prison.

Considering the defendant's behavior dangerous, the People's Court sentenced Quach Huu Viet to 18 years in prison.
