Pham Bang was originally from Hanoi. Born in 1931, he became known to audiences through VTV's "Meeting at the Weekend" program and many memorable television roles.

Besides acting, Pham Bang also ran a shop selling glutinous rice balls in a sweet and sour flavor on Hang Giay Street in Hanoi. However, he had to close the shop when he fell ill.
