Car models are waiting in Vietnam

Customers are waiting for the transformation of the new generation Civic or Fortuner, and are considering new names like Chevrolet Trax and Ford Explorer.

The two biggest exhibitions in Vietnam have just ended, and Vietnamese customers are flooded with confusing information about new cars. The VMS exhibition is for members of VAMA, but the most important models are all imported cars, while VIMS is purely imported, with only Mercedes having assembled cars.

The prospect of imported cars gradually invading the Vietnamese auto market is gradually becoming a reality. Below are the car models that are about to arrive in Vietnam in the popular segment, closest to the financial capacity of the majority of customers.

1. Honda Civic

New Honda Civic.

The 10th generation of the C-segment sedan has actually appeared at Honda dealerships in Vietnam, but only in display form for customers to see and place orders. The Japanese car company said it has received about 200 orders for the new Civic. The first batches of cars imported from Thailand will be delivered to customers in early 2017. The expected price is under one billion VND.

The new generation Civic is a breakthrough, correcting the design mistakes of the 9th generation. The new shape is coupe-oriented, the lines are sporty and look much stronger than before.

Engine mWith 1.5 liter turbo also makes many people curious to try. This engine has a capacity of 170 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, combined with a CVT gearbox. According to Honda, this power is equivalent to a normal 2.4 engine. Civic will cost less than 1 billion in Vietnam.

2.Toyota Fortuner

New Toyota Fortuner.

Fortuner is the highlight of Toyota's booth at VMS exhibition. Like Civic, the new Fortuner is also a revolution in design. Compared to the current simple, neutral Fortuner, the new SUV is more muscular, modern and somewhat mischievous.

The simple equipment of the old generation makes customers expect the new Fortuner to change both form and content. In Thailand, this version contains dozens of safety technologies and amenities, besides upgraded engines.

Because of the information that the new generation is about to be sold, the old version of Fortuner is selling out again, because many customers predict that the new generation will increase in price or the youthful design is not pleasing to the eye. Toyota factory in Vietnam is limiting the Innova production line to focus on the old Fortuner. The new car will arrive in Vietnam in 2017 and imported from Thailand.

3. Ford Explorer

Not in the segment with the majority of customers because of the price of up to 2.18 billion, but Explorer is a new wind that receives special attention. The large SUV bringssquare, strong and decisive design. With its large size, the Explorer's unique appearance, reminiscent of Range Rover, offers new suggestions to customers.

The version for the Vietnamese market is equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, direct fuel injection, capacity of 273 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, maximum torque of 420 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The SUV uses front-wheel drive, 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

Safety technology with 10 airbags, terrain control system, automatic parking assist, lane departure warning, hill descent assist, 180-degree camera system and other basic braking technologies.

Explorer threatens the pie of small luxury SUVs likeMercedes GLC, BMW X3 or popular cars like Mazda CX-9 because of its great advantages, comfort and famous EcoBoost engine. Explorer will be sold from December.

4. Chevrolet Trax

Chevrolet Trax.

Trax is imported from Korea and will be sold from January 2017. The car looks like a miniature version of Captiva, but Trax is more elegant with soft headlights and curved LED daytime running lights. The taillights are designed in a large style like previous small Chevrolet cars.

The car sold in Vietnam uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder gasoline engine version with a capacity of 140 horsepower at 4,900-6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1,850-4,900 rpm. 6-speed automatic transmission, Euro 6 emission standards.

Chevrolet equips Trax with dozens of safety technologies, from three basic types of brakes: ABS, EBD, BA to electronic balance, CBC cornering brake control, TCS anti-slip, HSA hill start assist, HDC downhill assist...The equipment on the B-size crossover is even more than some D-size models currently sold in Vietnam, priced at 769 million.

5. Mazda CX-3

Mazda CX-3.

Like Trax, CX-3 will compete in the B-size SUV segment when it comes to Vietnam. The car has a miniature appearance of CX-5, appearing at the recent VMS exhibition for display purposes only, the company has no plans to bring the car back, however customers expect CX-3 to arrive in 2017.

If the CX-3 comes to Vietnam, it will have the advantage of its predecessor, the CX-5, which will take the lead in the segment thanks to its design that suits Vietnamese people and its convenient equipment. However, in an unpredictable market like Vietnam, the opportunities are evenly distributed because each customer segment has different needs.
