The horrific accident took place today when the Zakria Express carrying passengers from Multan city collided head-on with the Fareed Express, which was waiting for passengers at a station in Karachi.

The collision left one of the two trains completely destroyed. The death toll has now risen to 17 dead and 60 others injured. Pakistani authorities said there were about 1,000 passengers on both trains.
