At around 11:00 a.m. on October 30, at Group 2, Vinh Hai area, Mao Khe ward, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province, detectives from Quang Yen town police, Quang Ninh province caught Bui Van Thang (born in 1998, in Kinh Mon district, Hai Duong province) red-handed in the act of extorting 5 million VND from Ms. BTCh (born in 1992, in Quang Yen town).
At the police station, Thang initially confessed that he and his accomplices used a clip with sensitive content of Ms. Ch through social networks to threaten and force Ms. Ch to pay money to let it go.
Too scared, Ms. Ch agreed to pay money to the above group many times. In total, from August until now, they have extorted from Ms. Ch an amount of up to 60 million VND.
According to Quang Yen Town Police, on October 29, Ms. BTCh submitted a complaint to the Town Police reporting that a group of people had used sensitive clips to blackmail her many times. Recently, they continued to demand Ms. Ch pay another 5 million VND to let her go. Seeing that she had lost money many times but this group still did not let her go, Ms. Ch went to the police to report.
According to Ms. Ch's report, a few months ago she met a young man through social media. The two met several times and for some reason the young man got the sensitive clip from Ms. Ch's phone. After that, the young man and Bui Van Thang continuously used this clip to blackmail Ms. Ch.
Immediately after receiving Ms. Ch's report, detectives from the Town Police investigated and verified, and at the same time asked Ms. Ch to continue transacting with the group and notify her agreement to hand over the money.
Seeing that Ms. Ch still obediently paid the money, the group did not suspect anything and arranged to meet Ms. Ch at the above location to deliver the money. However, as soon as Bui Van Thang received the money from Ms. Ch, he was immediately restrained and arrested by the detective posing as a taxi driver who brought Ms. Ch along with other detectives.
Currently, Quang Yen Town Police have handed over the case file, suspects, and evidence to Dong Trieu Town Police for handling according to their authority./.
