Two more close aides to the South Korean president have been arrested.
A South Korean court has ordered the arrest of two former close aides to President Park Geun-hye, the latest development in the scandal facing the president.
Protests demand the resignation of the South Korean president: Tens of thousands of people flocked to the center of Seoul, South Korea, to call for President Park Geun-hye's resignation over a scandal involving her allowing a close friend to interfere in politics.
On November 6, a South Korean court issued arrest warrants for An Chong Bum and Jeong Ho Seong, two former close confidants of President Park. Prior to the official arrest warrants, An was apprehended by emergency arrest warrants while Jeong was detained, Reuters reported.
Both An and Jeong were accused of involvement in the scandal surrounding President Park allowing her close friend Choi Soon Sil to manipulate government affairs. Former advisor An Chong Bum faced charges of abuse of power and personal gain, while advisor Jeong Ho Seong was suspected of leaking state secrets.

On the evening of November 5th, over 40,000 people gathered in Seoul to protest and demand President Park's resignation. 17,000 security personnel were deployed to maintain order and respond to any incidents.
Earlier, on November 4th, opinion polls showed that support for President Park had fallen to just 5%, the lowest since polls began in 1988.

In late October, South Korean public opinion was shaken by the scandal involving Choi Soon-sil, who allegedly used her relationship with President Park Geun-hye to interfere in national affairs and gain special privileges.
Park admitted to allowing Choi to edit some of her speeches early in her presidency. However, the president denied allegations that Choi accessed other documents, as well as profiting from her relationship with Park.
