Barca appeals Messi's yellow card

The Catalan club were unhappy with the Argentine star's booking in the 2-1 win over Sevilla.

Coach Luis Enrique said after the match that Messi's shoelaces broke, preventing him from putting his boots on. Therefore, the decision to fine the Barca player for time-wasting was incorrect.

Lionel Messi was shown a yellow card by referee Santiago Jaime Latre in the 83rd minute. The 29-year-old striker was fouled from behind by Steven N'Zonzi, causing his right boot to fly off. Messi then sat up and put his boot back on. At this point, Barca were leading 2-1.

However, the Argentine striker did not put on his shoes and stood up and walked out of the field. Seeing this, referee Jaime Latre ran after him and gave him a yellow card. Messi was surprised by this decision and explained to the referee. However, the penalty was still upheld. Messi looked angry, threw his shoe down and walked out of the field.

Messi then put on his boots and returned to the field. In this match, he scored the equalizer for Barca and assisted Luis Suarez to seal the score. Messi's goal in this match was his 500th for Barca.

Barca received six yellow cards in the match, with Neymar and Luis Suarez both receiving yellow cards. For Neymar, this was his fourth yellow card and if he receives another, the Brazilian striker will be banned for one match. Meanwhile, Suarez will miss the match against Malaga on November 19 because this was his fifth yellow card.
