Gangster boss arrested for renting a car to pawn

(Baonghean.vn) - On November 2, Nghi Loc District Police announced that they had prosecuted and temporarily detained Bach Anh Quynh (34 years old, Nghi Phong Commune, Nghi Loc District) to investigate the act of Fraudulent appropriation of property.

According to the case file, on the evening of September 11, after drinking alcohol, Quynh ordered his junior Hoang Van Ha (31 years old, residing in Nghi Loc district) to “borrow a car to go to work” but was unable to do so because he did not have a motorbike to park. Quynh then called the Director of Uy Tam Trading and Service Company Limited to rent a car and was agreed that he did not need to leave his motorbike behind.

After signing a one-day rental contract for 600,000 VND, Ha brought the car to Quynh's house. With the car in hand, Quynh immediately pawned it for 30 million VND to spend and then disappeared. After receiving the complaint, on October 27, Quynh was arrested by Nghi Loc District Police while hiding in Nghi Trung Commune, Nghi Loc District.

Police said that Bach Anh Quynh is a local gangster. In 2004, Quynh was sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court for robbery. After completing his prison term, Quynh returned to his hometown and recruited many followers to organize debt collection and protection rackets. Currently, police suspect that Quynh has committed many similar scams.

The case is under further investigation.
