South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said on November 9 that he believes Donald Trump, if elected, will maintain the current US policy of putting pressure on North Korea on nuclear and missile tests.

“Trump has indicated that the biggest problem facing the world is the nuclear threat and members of his national security team are in favor of maintaining strong pressure on North Korea,” Mr. Yun said.

Mr. Yun made the above comment during a meeting with congressmen to discuss the results of the US presidential election.

Meanwhile, the leader of France’s far-right National Front party, Marine Le Pen, congratulated Donald Trump even before the election results were announced. She tweeted: “Congratulations to the new US President Donald Trump and the freedom-loving American people!”

In Germany, a senior member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative party said the German government was unsure what Donald Trump would do if elected. “We don’t know what the new US president will do when an angry voice takes power and becomes the most powerful man in the world.”

For his part, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte sent his “warmest congratulations” to President-elect Donald Trump and looked forward to working with him to advance relations. Thus, after a difficult relationship with the Obama administration, Trump’s election victory was affirmed by Duterte as a victory for the American democratic system and the American way of life.
