To carry out their crimes, the group took a car from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi, rented a room in Cau Giay district, and at night wandered around looking for vulnerabilities in households to steal property.
In early November 2016, the suspects went to Quang An ward, Tay Ho district, and discovered a family on Dang Thai Mai street had left their motorbike unattended in their yard. The group then broke the lock and stole the Honda Lead motorbike.
The suspects advertised the stolen vehicle for sale on social media. Through further investigation, the police clarified that the group had committed numerous thefts, stealing dozens of motorbikes in the Cau Giay and Tay Ho districts. To sell the stolen goods, the perpetrators created Facebook accounts to exchange and sell them. To avoid detection by the police, they often removed license plates or installed fake ones, covered them with plastic wrap to change the paint color, etc.
The police have currently seized several pieces of evidence related to the case.
