The match on the evening of November 18th became an exciting chase when RB Leipzig came from behind to defeat the home team. The match heated up right from the first minutes when two goals were scored in just four minutes.
Leverkusen opened the scoring after two minutes with Kevin Kampl's close-range finish, but RB Leipzig immediately equalized after a chaotic situation saw Julian Baumgartlinger score an own goal.
The home side took the lead again late in the first half thanks to Julian Brandt's decisive cross-angle finish. In the second half, Leverkusen came close to finishing off RB Leipzig when they were awarded a penalty after Stefan Ilsanker fouled Jukian Brandt in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu failed to convert the spot-kick.
After recovering from the penalty, RB Leipzig rallied and equalised with Emil Forsberg's powerful long-range strike. As the match entered its final stages, the visitors completed the comeback with a header from Will Orban.
The victory over Leverkusen helped rookie RB Leipzig surpass Bayern to take the top spot in the Bundesliga. This puts a lot of pressure on the Bavarian team because they are forced to beat rival Dortmund in the "classic" match of German football this round. The goal will be very difficult because Bayern will be a guest at Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park on the evening of November 19 (0:30 November 20 Hanoi time).
RB Leipzig have won six consecutive Bundesliga games and become the first newly promoted team to remain unbeaten after their opening 11 league games.
The Bundesliga sensation was founded in 2009 and is backed by Red Bull. RB Leipzig has risen five places in seven seasons to make its debut in Germany's top flight this year.
