Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc this afternoon received the Duke of Cambridge, British Prince William Arthur Philip Louis at the government headquarters, during the Prince's first visit to Vietnam.

The Prime Minister affirmed that economic cooperation is a pillar in the cooperative relationship between the two countries and hoped that Prince William would support and promote cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

Regarding education, the Prime Minister suggested that the two countries expand comprehensive cooperation so that Vietnamese students can access a quality education system, and strengthen cooperation between universities, research centers, and vocational training centers. The Prime Minister hoped that the UK would continue to support high-quality human resource training, teach English in Vietnam, and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to study in the UK.

The Prime Minister also wished Prince William success in co-chairing the Hanoi Conference on preventing and combating illegal wildlife trade.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam pays special attention to wildlife protection and in fact, this work is always carried out synchronously in the construction and improvement of institutions and in the implementation of legal regulations. The Prime Minister hoped that the UK would continue to support and assist Vietnam in carrying out this task more effectively.

At the meeting, the British Prince said he had high expectations for his first visit to Vietnam to learn about the country, its people and the results of the work to prevent and combat wildlife trafficking. The Prince affirmed that he would continue to support the promotion of bilateral relations, especially in the fields of education and trade.

Regarding the fight to protect other rare animals from extinction, the British Prince highly appreciated the results of Vietnam's efforts to conserve wildlife and said that strengthening the law in this fight in Vietnam could become a model for other countries to learn from.

The Prince stressed that the fight to protect rare animals is a transnational, cross-border, urgent issue, and is also the goal of the Hanoi Conference on combating illegal wildlife trade.

Prince William believes that the government's support and strong involvement are important conditions to ensure the victory of the fight to protect wildlife. It is of great significance in dealing with and handling wildlife trafficking crimes, a crime with a level of danger equivalent to human trafficking crimes.
