Ivana, 67, believes she is the right person to represent the United States in the Czech Republic, the country where she was born.

"I would propose to be ambassador to the Czech Republic. That's where I come from and my language, everyone knows me," she told the New York Post. "I'm known as Ivana. I don't really need the Trump name. I'm pretty well known all over the world, not just in America."

Ivana also congratulated Melania, Mr Trump's third wife, saying she had no regrets about missing out on the chance to become first lady and saying her own home in New York was "much better than the White House".

"I don't envy Melania because she has to start packing clothes and everything."

His ex-wife believes that when he becomes president, Mr. Trump will keep his private plane and turn it into a private jet, and give up his hobby of golf during his first 100 days in the White House.

On the issue of immigrants, Ms. Ivana said that America needs them, but these people must pay taxes and "speak a little English".

Ivana married Trump in 1977 and divorced in 1992. They have three children together: Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump.
