(Baonghean.vn) - At 3:20 AM on November 28th, the Dien Chau Traffic Police Station ( thuộc the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police) apprehended a case involving the transportation of 60 kg of live pangolins en route to be sold.

At that time, while patrolling at kilometer 430 of National Highway 1A (in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district), the task force spotted a passenger car with license plate 35B-004.19 driven by Pham Viet Thang (born in 1974), residing in Chinh Tam commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province, traveling in the direction of Dak Nong-Ninh Binh, exhibiting suspicious behavior.

The pangolins were kept in burlap sacks and sealed in cardboard boxes to avoid inspection by authorities.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered seven cardboard boxes containing 17 live pangolins (a rare and endangered wild animal listed in the Red Book), weighing a total of 60 kg. According to the driver, he was hired to transport the animals from Kon Tum to Ninh Binh for an unidentified man in his 30s, where someone would receive them.

Currently, traffic police have temporarily seized the vehicle and handed over the pangolins to the Dien Chau district police for further investigation and legal processing.
