(Baonghean.vn) - At 3:20 a.m. on November 28, Dien Chau Traffic Police Station (under the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province) arrested a case of transporting 60 kg of live pangolins on the way to be sold.

At the above time, while patrolling at km 430 of National Highway 1A (in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district), the working group discovered a passenger car with license plate 35B-004.19 driven by Mr. Pham Viet Thang (born in 1974), permanent resident of Chinh Tam commune, Kim Son, Ninh Binh, traveling in the direction of Dak Nong-Ninh Binh with suspicious signs.

Upon inspection, the authorities discovered that the vehicle was carrying 7 cardboard boxes containing 17 live pangolins (a rare wild animal listed in the Red Book), weighing a total of 60 kg. According to the driver, the animals were being transported for hire by a man around 30 years old (name unknown) from Kon Tum to Ninh Binh, who would receive them.
Currently, the traffic police have temporarily detained the car and handed over the pangolins to Dien Chau district police for further investigation and legal handling./.
