The "bird garden" at Khe Ho dam has existed since before 1980, which is about 40 years old. The birds that gather here include many species, but mainly storks, with the largest number at the time. It is estimated to be a few thousand, and some years pelicans and ducks also appear. Depending on the time, the number of storks will be more or less. From August until the end of spring, when Khe Ho dam is full of water, is also the time when the storks come to roost in the largest numbers. In the summer, when the dam is dry and people can wade across, the number of storks will decrease significantly.
In the late afternoon, from all over the fields of Do Luong, storks fly back, hovering over the water and perching on the white orchards. They perch on the towering eucalyptus trees or hide under the bamboo clumps close to the water around Tron Hill. Storks are very agile, as soon as a strange person or animal enters the garden or a loud noise in the middle of the dam, they will cry out in alarm, flap their wings loudly and immediately fly into the air. Although storks have appeared on Tron Hill for decades, they only reside and do not breed.

Khe Ho Dam Bird Garden is currently located in the management area of Do Luong Forestry Enterprise. Mr. Thai Dinh Que (56 years old) - the forest ranger said: "The forest management board as well as the People's Committee of Hoa Son commune have long had a policy of protecting the bird garden, considering the bird garden as a valuable asset. The protection contract with the forest ranger clearly states the task of protecting the bird garden."
According to Mr. Que, in recent years, seeing the eye-catching "bird garden", many hunting groups have recklessly come to harass and hunt the garden birds, but he and the people here have promptly discovered and stopped them. 25 households around Khe Ho area in particular and Hoa Son people in general are very conscious in protecting wild birds, both in the fields and in the bird garden.
Traveling on Highway 7, if you pay attention, you can also discover the bird garden standing out in the middle of the clear blue water dam. Standing on the dam bank, you can freely observe, film, take photos... The special thing is that you can only admire the wild birds in the early morning when the storks leave the garden to look for food and in the late afternoon when the storks from the fields gather here to sleep. Going to the bird garden to observe is a mistake because there are many mosquitoes in the garden and just a slight movement and the storks will fly away.
