(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 28, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the Project "Strengthening the dissemination and education of law for officials and people in border and island areas during the period 2014 - 2016".

Overall, the awareness, understanding, and compliance with the law among officials and people in border and coastal areas, as well as officers and soldiers on the islands, have improved. The number of law violations and violations of regulations has decreased compared to before the implementation of the Project. According to statistics, in the first nine months of 2014, there were 283 cases involving 375 individuals in the 61 border communes and wards; in the first nine months of 2016, there were 218 cases involving 285 individuals, a decrease of 65 cases and 90 individuals.

Citizens' awareness and responsibility in participating in the protection of border and maritime sovereignty have undergone significant changes. Border and coastal communes and wards have established 101 self-governing security and order groups, 158 mediation groups, and 79 villages have registered to participate in self-management of 287 km of border and 48 border markers.

From 2014 to the present, the people have provided law enforcement agencies with 2,603 ​​pieces of information to assist in the fight against crime; and have voluntarily surrendered 420 firearms of various types.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing the achievements and shortcomings, analyzing the causes of existing limitations, and drawing some lessons learned during the implementation of the Project.

Concluding the conference, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that in the coming time, agencies and units need to focus on replicating good models and innovative and effective methods to disseminate laws that are relevant to the practical lives of people in border and coastal areas.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Commendation to collectives and individuals who have achieved many accomplishments in disseminating legal education to officials and people in border and island areas during the period 2014 - 2016.
