According to Ukrainian media reports, the power of the new version of the “Grom-2” (Thunder) short-range missile system is enough to compete with Russia's Iskander nuclear warhead missile system (SRBM).

Ukrainian military experts say the new missile system, which will be tested next month, can compete with the Russian system but is cheaper. According to the Ukrainian online newspaper Apostrophe, the Grom-2 design will be improved, contributing to changing the balance of power between the country and Russia, and also allowing the government army to overwhelm the rebels in the Donbass war zone. Citing comments from experts, the media emphasized that the new Grom-2 system allows missiles to target targets in Russian territory.

Responding to the above information, Russian commentators said that it was just a "war" when in reality, Russia is not a country at war with Ukraine to threaten. Besides, the Kiev government has also signed the Minsk ceasefire agreement to ensure peace in Eastern Ukraine.

Finally, Kiev is bound by several treaties, including the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which prohibits the deployment and export of ballistic and cruise missile systems with ranges exceeding 500km. Given Moscow’s geographical distance from Ukraine, experts say this information is just a ploy by the Ukrainian media.

Speaking to Sputnik, Russian analyst and veteran Konstantin Sivkov explained that he honestly does not believe that the Ukrainian military's weapons manufacturing industry has reached such a level of advanced system development, because even the US does not have it.

“The creation of a new super weapon is very difficult for Ukraine in all respects, due to the time and financial resources required,” Mr. Sivkov stressed. Earlier, there were reports that Saudi Arabia had supported the country in creating Grom-2 with 1 billion hryvnia (equivalent to 40 million USD).
