The previous afternoon, Hung stopped by a clothing store in Phuoc Hai, Long Thanh town to buy clothes for his girlfriend. While paying, Hung used his hand to hit Bui Thi Bich Huyen (the store owner) hard in the neck, causing the victim to lose consciousness and collapse on the spot.

He used duct tape to seal the victim's mouth and then rummaged through her belongings. Ms. Huyen woke up and shouted for help, so Hung only had time to grab his phone and run outside. At this time, passersby promptly subdued the robber and handed him over to the police.
