6 months suspended sentence for theft of property

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 25, Nghia Dan District People's Court held a public mobile trial of the case of Luong Van Nam, born in 1991, residing in Hamlet 8, Nghia Mai Commune, Nghia Dan District, for the crime of property theft.

On September 17, 2016, Mr. Le Duy Cu and his son Le Duy Linh drove a crane with license plate 37C-018.35 to Luong Van Nam's house in Hamlet 8, Nghia Mai, Nghia Dan to lift 3 mango trees bought from Nam.

When the crane reached Nam's alley, it got stuck in the mud and could not move forward, so Mr. Cu and Mr. Linh rented an excavator to push the truck. After Mr. Cu and Mr. Linh left, Nam saw on the crane's bed a hand saw with an orange plastic shell, metal blade, HUSQVARNA 365 brand that Mr. Cu had left unattended, so he stole it and hid it in his own haystack to use.

The chainsaw that Luong Van Nam stole from Mr. Le Duy Cu is worth 6,500,000 VND.

At the trial, Luong Van Nam confessed his crime. Applying Article 138, Clause 1 of the Penal Code, the panel sentenced Luong Van Nam to 6 months in prison for theft, suspended.
