Su-30MK2 blocking key points of the country
Replacing the MiG-21, the 927th Air Force Regiment of the Air Defense - Air Force Service has advanced straight to modernity by being equipped with Su-30MK2 fighters.
The plan to build and equip 3 modern Su-30MK2 fighter regiments of the Air Defense - Air Force has basically been completed. The unit receiving the new aircraft is the 927th Air Regiment - Lam Son Air Group of the 371st Air Division.
After a period of mobilizing forces into Air Force Regiment 923 (also under Division 371) and training for conversion at Tho Xuan airport, all fighter pilots of Regiment 927 have now completely mastered the modern Su-30MK2 aircraft.
Sharing with PK-KQ Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Son - Head of Logistics of Regiment 927 said that this is the unit's key task in 2016, so officers, employees in the industry and related departments are very determined to complete the task.

Before officially posting this information, based on the indications, the next unit to be equipped with the Su-30MK2 will be Regiment 927. Firstly, it can be confirmed that the MiG-21s of the Vietnam Air Force have been "retired", giving way to more modern fighter jets.
While most of the regiments equipped with MiG-21s have completed receiving new aircraft, the pilots of Regiment 927 have been upgraded directly to Su-30MK2. Secondly, Kep - the main base airport of Regiment 927 has basically completed the first phase of upgrading.
Third, in 2015, all 12 Su-30MK2s of the contract signed in 2013 will be delivered to Vietnam, enough to equip the next Su-30 regiment. Thus, in 2015, Air Force Regiment 927 - Lam Son Heroic Air Force Group is the third unit to be equipped with Su-30MK2 aircraft.
Based on the number of contracts to purchase Su-30MK2 fighters that Vietnam signed with Russia, it shows that the standard staff of each regiment includes 12 Su-30MK2s divided into 2 squadrons.
Thus, the Su-30MK2 fighter jets of the Vietnam Air Force have been deployed in key positions to protect the airspace and islands of the Fatherland. Specifically, the Su-30MK2 of the 927th Air Force Regiment (Lam Son Group) stationed at Kep Airport, Bac Giang will protect the northern airspace of the Fatherland.
Meanwhile, Regiment 923 (Yen The Group) is stationed at Sao Vang Airport, Thanh Hoa, on duty in the Central region, and Regiment 935 (Bien Hoa Group) protects the airspace and sea in the southern part of the country, especially the Truong Sa archipelago area.
The Su-30MK2 fighter is known as a multi-role fighter, capable of taking on air superiority, air defense, patrolling, escorting, and attacking targets on the ground and at sea.
The maximum flight speed of the Su-30MK2 is over 2,100km/h, the maximum range is about 3,000km and can be up to more than 8,000km if refueled in the air. In particular, this fighter jet line is also capable of detecting targets several hundred kilometers away thanks to the long-range fire control radar system.
The Su-30MK2's weapon system is extremely modern and powerful, suitable for air-to-air, ground-to-ground and sea-to-air combat. The Su-30MK2's weapon carrying capacity is extremely large, up to 8 tons on 12 hardpoints. There is also a 30mm GSh-301 cannon with 150 rounds of ammunition.
