Dangda scored twice, Thailand won on Myanmar's field
The captain striker shined, helping Kiatisuk's team defeat their opponents 2-0 in the first leg of the AFF Cup 2016 semi-final.
Teerasil Dangda continued to show his leading position for the Thai team. His two goals in this match helped him increase his total number of goals scored in the 2016 AFF Cup to five. Especially in the second goal, the striker playing for Muangthong United showed his excellent dribbling and finishing ability. Dangda deserved to be the best player of the match.
This was a victory of class, not only for Dangda personally but also for the Thai team as they completely outplayed their opponents. The Thai midfield showed good control of the game. Both of their goals came from central attacks. Thailand punished the immaturity of the young Myanmar players with a frightening level of maturity and composure.
Thailand started the game as if they were unaware of the 32,000 spectators at Thuwanna Stadium. Kiatisuk's players calmly dominated the game. The midfielders' good ball control helped them reduce the excitement of the home team.
From the 15th minute onwards, Thailand continuously threatened Myanmar's goal. First were two long-range shots by Thawikan and Chanathip, followed by a missed shot from Teerasil Dangda in the 19th minute when facing the goalkeeper. However, the visitors only had to wait two minutes to open the scoring. Zaw Min Tun's poor interception brought the ball to Chanathip. The midfielder seized the opportunity and assisted Dangda to score.

Myanmar managed to put the ball in the Thai net in the 36th minute but the referee judged that Mg Mg Lwin was offside. Despite their determination after conceding the goal, the home team's attacks proved harmless and their players were often easily controlled by the Thai defense whenever they tried to make a breakthrough.
In the 55th minute, the cheers in the Thuwanna stadium fell silent when Dangda scored the second goal. It was a classy move by the 28-year-old striker. He dribbled straight into the middle, dribbled past a Myanmar defender and then finished with a tricky left foot, leaving goalkeeper Kyaw Zin Phyo standing and watching.

This goal was like a bucket of cold water poured on Myanmar's determination. In the 69th minute, Aung Thu missed a chance when facing goalkeeper Kawin. This move made the Myanmar players' spirit plummet even more. In the remaining minutes of the match, Thailand played leisurely and Myanmar did not create any more shots on target.
This victory puts Kiatisuk and his team one foot in the final. It demonstrates the gap between this team and other teams in the Southeast Asian region. Meanwhile, with what they showed in this match, Myanmar does not seem to be a team that will create an earthquake in Bangkok on December 8.
