5 cases of 'weddings turned into funerals' in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, murders at weddings have occurred in the province due to excessive alcohol consumption. These incidents are raising alarm bells about alcohol abuse at weddings.

1. A fight at a wedding left one person dead in Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau

The murder occurred at noon on April 22, 2016, while attending the wedding of Mr. Huu's son in Hamlet 9, Dien Trung Commune, Dien Chau District, Hoang Van Tu (born in 1997) had a conflict with a group of young men from outside the area. At this time, the group of young men suddenly ran out of the car to get knives and swords that had been prepared in the trunk of a motorbike and taxi, then chased and slashed Tu.

Seeing his younger brother being chased and killed, Mr. Hoang Van Tuan (born in 1995) rushed in to stop the attack and was immediately beaten by the group of young men. Mr. Hoang Van De (born in 1961, father of Tuan and Tu) came out of the house and saw his children being surrounded and beaten. He rushed to stop them and was also slashed once on the arm and once on the buttocks by the group of young men.

At this time, Tu was being chased by 6-7 young men. Tu tried to run home, but after running about 100 meters, the group of young men caught him and slashed him in the back of the head. Tu tried to get up and run away, but was stabbed again in the back and collapsed on the spot.

Immediately after committing the crime, the group of young men left the scene. Mr. De and Tu were taken to the hospital by relatives for emergency treatment, but Tu died due to severe injuries.

2. Attending the groom's wedding, the bride's family member was stabbed to death.

On August 9, 2015, the family of Mr. Chu Van Canh (born in 1955), hamlet 5, Quynh Luong, Quynh Luu organized a wedding for their youngest son. At about 9:30 p.m. the same day, Mr. Ho Ba Tr. (born in 1995) and some friends of the bride's family came to Mr. Canh's house to attend the party. Mr. Tr. invited Ho Than Thuong (born in 1990) to dance. After that, the two had a conflict and started fighting but were stopped.

Mr. Tr. continued to go outside and got into a scuffle and fight with a group of young men from the village who were also attending the wedding. During the fight, Tr. was stabbed twice in the private area and collapsed on the spot.

He was taken to Quynh Luu District General Hospital, then transferred to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment, but due to severe injuries and extensive loss of color, Mr. Tr. later died.

3. Died unjustly for not drinking wedding wine

On the evening of March 14, 2012, Mr. Ha Van Tim (born in 1981 - head of Hong Son village, Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district) attended a friend's wedding in Mon Son commune. Here, the village youth invited Mr. Tim to drink alcohol but he refused.

At around 0:00 on March 13, when Tim was returning home, Lo Thanh Sinh blocked his way and used a wooden stick to attack him multiple times in the head and chest, causing him to die on the way to the emergency room.

Sinh confessed that he invited Tim to drink alcohol but he refused, causing him to become angry. Sinh only intended to beat him to vent his anger but did not expect the victim to die.

4. Hacked cousin to death due to conflict at wedding party

On the afternoon of April 16, 2016, Luong Tran Chu (born in 1965, residing in Tan Thiet hamlet, Nghia Lien commune, Nghia Dan district) and Luong Van Nghi (born in 1971, Chu's cousin) went to a wedding together at a relative's house in the hamlet. However, there, the two had a conflict and argued with each other. After being stopped by everyone, Nghi left, while Chu went to a drinking place.

At around 3pm that same day, Chu rode his motorbike to Mr. Nghi's house. There, the two argued loudly about the wedding dispute. Thinking that Mr. Nghi was younger and rude, Chu ran home to get a cleaver and slashed Mr. Nghi many times.

Seeing Mr. Nghi collapse and bleed profusely, the perpetrator fled the scene. Although his family rushed him to the emergency room, Mr. Nghi died on the way to the hospital.

5 - Stabbed someone to death at a wedding and then turned himself in to the police

On the evening of February 27, 2015, Mr. Le Chi Ha (35 years old, living in Hung Long commune, Hung Nguyen district) and Nguyen Quoc Thanh (46 years old, living at the same address) attended a wedding near their house. Here, the 46-year-old man offered Ha wine but he refused.

Thinking that the 35-year-old man looked down on him, Mr. Thanh punched Ha three times in the face, causing her nose to bleed. The incident was later stopped by everyone.

Angry at being beaten for no reason, Ha ran home to get a knife to find his opponent. Seeing Mr. Thanh drinking at the wedding, he ran back and stabbed the victim many times in the body and neck, causing death, then went to the police to confess.

Before committing the crime, Ha was an employee of a media company, had a daughter, and had just divorced a few days before.
