Nghe An is ready with 57.5 billion VND to stabilize goods for Tet holiday
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 6, the Central interdisciplinary working group led by Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade worked with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on ensuring goods for the end of 2016 and Lunar New Year 2017.
Working with the delegation, on the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of the departments: Industry and Trade, Department of Information and Communications, Finance, Agriculture & Rural Development, State Bank of Vietnam of Nghe An province.

To ensure the balance of supply and demand of essential goods, stabilize the market of goods at the end of 2016 and the Lunar New Year 2017, contribute to economic stability, ensure social security, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 8240/UBND-KT (October 31, 2016) on reserving essential goods for the Lunar New Year 2017. Accordingly, it is expected that 3 main goods will be reserved with a value of 57.5 billion VND, including rice, sticky rice and cooking oil.
At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee directed relevant agencies to strengthen market supervision, implement measures to control the distribution and purchase of agricultural products and essential foods, and minimize acts of market disruption, speculation, hoarding, and price increases. The credit system was also assigned the responsibility of creating favorable conditions for businesses and production households to borrow capital to develop production to serve the Tet market.

The fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods is also specifically assigned to the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with functional forces. The plans of the Provincial People's Committee to ensure goods during the Lunar New Year 2017 have been deployed to departments, branches and districts, cities and towns.
At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development clearly analyzed the production situation in Nghe An, in which some agricultural products and seafood exploitation faced many difficulties due to unusual weather; the connection between production and consumption still had many shortcomings. The Provincial People's Committee also recommended that the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other ministries and branches pay attention to policies to support preferential capital sources for enterprises to develop production and business; recommended that the Government have policies to support Nghe An fishermen affected by the chain reaction due to environmental pollution incidents in the Central provinces.

On behalf of the working delegation, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa highly appreciated the efforts of all levels and sectors in Nghe An in ensuring the supply of goods during the Lunar New Year. The Deputy Minister also suggested that the province should more accurately assess the supply and demand of goods, especially essential goods in the area, to proactively develop plans or propose to competent authorities measures to ensure balance between supply and demand, stabilize the market, and avoid shortages, supply disruptions or backlogs of goods after Tet.
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade also noted that the province needs to have policies that are consistent with the work of reserve and price stabilization, accompany businesses and be ready with plans to limit and handle false information related to the market during Tet.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Xuan Dai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee accepted the instructions from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and affirmed that the province will continue to study the lessons learned from other localities to effectively stabilize commodity prices during Tet. The province is also considering adding some essential commodities to the list of reserves and price stabilization during the 2017 Lunar New Year.
