Toyota introduces upgraded version of Camry 2016 in Vietnam

The D-size sedan upgraded the G and E versions to 7 airbags like the Q version and a new leather-wrapped zig zag gear lever, with a price reduction of 24-31 million depending on the version.

Toyota introduced the upgraded version of Camry 2016 at the time of year-end sales market. The car does not change the design but focuses on upgrading some utilities and safety technology while reducing the selling price to attract customers.

New Camry all 3 versions have 7 airbags.

Most notably, the number of airbags on the two low versions, 2.0E and 2.5G, both have 7 airbags like the high-end version 2.5Q, while previously the 2.0E only had 2 airbags and the 2.5G had 4 airbags. This improvement makes the two low versions more attractive by increasing safety features.

In addition, there are minor changes in convenience such as the zig zag gear lever covered with an additional layer of leather, but the gear shifting structure remains unchanged. The two lower versions also increase the number of ceiling handles from 3 to 4. The 2.5Q version replaces the old 6.3-inch DVD screen with a new 7-inch type.

The 2.0E version has a more balanced and sporty appearance when the old 16-inch rims are upgraded to 17 inches, the tires are thinner, from 215/60 to 215/55.

All versions have 7 airbags.

The car has no engine upgrade. The 2.0E version is still the 2-liter 6AR-FSE 4-cylinder direct fuel injection D-4S, VVT-iW variable valve timing system, exhaust gas recirculation system, compression ratio 12.7:1. Capacity 165 horsepower, maximum torque 199 Nm.2.5 liter engine on 2.5G and 2.5Q 4-cylinder VVT-i capacity 178 horsepower, maximum torque 231 Nm. 6-speed automatic transmission.

To stimulate demand, Toyota slightly reduced the price of the new Camry version, the 2.0E version reduced by 24 million, the 2.5G reduced by 27 million and the 2.5Q reduced by 31 million. The prices of the 3 new versions are 1.098 billion, 1.236 billion and 1.383 billion respectively.

Camry no longer has "huge" sales in the Vietnamese market like about 3 years ago due to the general decline of the D segment, giving way to the rise of crossovers, pickups and small cars. Toyota's car model still has an advantage over its rival Mazda6. In October 2016, Camry sold 409 cars while Mazda6 sold 265 cars. Another formidable rival of Camry is Hyundai Sonata, however, the Korean car company does not announce sales in Vietnam.
