The culprit of back pain may be our daily living habits, according to Everydayhealth.

Eat a lot of fat

It’s important to maintain a healthy weight, says Neil Kirschen, MD, medical director of the Pain Management Center at South Nassau Community Hospital in Oceanside. Additionally, a diet high in fat and calories can lead to weight gain, which can contribute to back and joint pain.

Smoking

There are many reasons to quit smoking, but this is one of the best reasons for smokers who suffer from back pain. Smoking takes oxygen away from cells, which can cause back pain. Research shows that heavy smokers are twice as likely to suffer from back pain as people who have never smoked.

Sitting too much and sitting in the wrong posture

The more pressure on the spine, the more wear and tear on the spinal discs. The human body needs to move, so to reduce or avoid back pain, stand up at least every hour and take a short walk, as well as stretch your legs when sitting.

Poor posture is also one of the causes of back pain. The ears, shoulders, hips and ankles should be kept in a straight line, avoiding tilting the head forward or slouching the shoulders to avoid back pain. Good posture should be maintained throughout the day to reduce or prevent back pain.
