Lady Gaga 'lost' in the middle of the Victoria's Secret 2016 show but still strangely attractive

Performances by “Mother Monster” and two guests Bruno Mars and The Weeknd created the attraction for the sexiest fashion night on the planet.

Filmed on November 30, after nearly a week of editing, the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show aired on CBS. The show featured 51 models of various nationalities, including 12 "angels". Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel did not participate this year because they had just given birth. Since 2000, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has returned to France and was held for the first time in Paris.

The singer, born in 1986, brought to the stage the ballad Million Reasons from her newly released album – Joanne. Wearing a sheer lace dress with rose motifs, Lady Gaga appeared in the mist and sang with a powerful voice, while the models presented the Mountain Romance collection. Her strange pose of looking at the angels immediately became a topic of discussion on social networks and many people “edited” her photos.

In the second performance, Lady Gaga brought a whole group of dancers and a band onto the stage to perform two new songs, A-YO and John Wayne. At the end of the performance, the singer unexpectedly became the catwalk vedette and also wore "angel" wings. Despite her modest height (1.55m), Lady Gaga was still confident and boldly strode on 30cm high shoes by designer Christian Louboutin. This was the most impressive moment of this year's Victoria's Secret fashion night.

The other two guests – Bruno Mars and The Weeknd – are both top-notch singers, so their performances also had a good effect. Bruno performed his two latest songs, 24K Magic and Chunky. Both artists were guests at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2012 and 2015, so this time, they performed quite well with the models, creating beautiful images.

Light, color, impressive designs

The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was divided into six sections, with the themes The Road Ahead, Mountain Romance, Pink Nation, Secret Angel, Dark Angel and Bright Night Angel. The traditional T-shaped stage had a backdrop inspired by the foot of the Eiffel Tower - the symbol of Paris.

Compared to recent years, this year's Victoria's Secret designs are more eye-catching and creative. The first act - The Road Ahead - made a strong impression with its Asian inspiration, especially Tibet. Strong Asian symbols such as dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, feathers and lanterns were brought to the stage. The wings and accessories were color-coordinated to show the class that can only be found at Victoria's Secret.

Throughout the six shows, 51 models “burned” the eyes of viewers with their fiery curves, confident strides on the catwalk, sweet smiles and even cold and seductive poses. The new faces that stood out this year were the sisters Gigi Hadid - Bella Hadid and the Russian supermodel, Cristiano Ronaldo's ex-girlfriend - Irina Shayk.

The model is uniformly beautiful but lacks personality.

Over the past 5 years, the number of Victoria's Secret "angels" has increased. This year, the list of supermodels with "angel" wings is 12 people and each has their own performance. However, compared to the old generation, the new "angels" have a similar beauty and are easily confused when standing together. This is also the reason why the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is gradually losing its appeal.

Older generations like Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Karolina Kurkova, Gisele Bundchen or Miranda Kerr all have very strong personalities and when standing together, they still create their own colors. Up to now, only Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio - two "angels" who have been together year after year - can still be distinguished by most audiences. The remaining "angels" are different in nationality but have a neutral color with pretty faces, long hair and similar ways of expressing emotions.

This year’s $3 million Bright Night Fantasy Bra, worn by American black “angel” Jasmine Tookes, was also quite lackluster. In recent years, it has been difficult to find impressive performances with the most expensive bra, such as Gisele Bundchen in 2005, Adriana Lima in 2008 or Miranda Kerr in 2011.

In the past three years, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has still attracted the attention of beauty lovers but is showing clear repetition in ideas, scripts and presentation. The most obvious change is that the organization's setting has been brought to more cities such as London (UK) or Paris (France) instead of just New York (USA). However, to keep the audience in front of the screen or create a strong effect like in the mid-2000s, the program needs to have breakthroughs in script ideas and more "tricks".
