Trump criticizes 'one China' policy
In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, US President-elect Donald Trump said he would not allow Beijing to impose its own terms on relations with Taiwan.

"I don't want China to dictate to me," the future US leader said. Trump also stressed that the phone call with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen was short and unscheduled. "I don't understand why we have to stick to the 'one China' policy," Trump said, commenting on his phone conversation with Tsai.
He also noted that Washington currently has no agreements with Beijing on issues such as trade, so the United States is paying a huge fee, while China is not. Trump said Beijing's policies affect the United States, after he stressed that China "should not" build artificial islands in the South China Sea.
