Civic education lessons have become interesting, bringing meaningful messages but no less funny under the creativity of 11th grade students D4K95 Huynh Thuc Khang High School. After being posted on social networks, 2 videos named "Students then and now" and "Extracurricular" quickly received tens of thousands of views, likes, comments and shares.
Nearly 5 minutes long, the video “Students of the past and present” is a humorous perspective of 12 members of group 1 of class D4K95 to compare the differences between students of the past and students of today. The first difference mentioned in the video is the pencil box, an almost inseparable item for students. If in the past, pencil boxes were full of pens for studying, today’s students’ pencil boxes are full of cosmetics. The video also makes interesting comparisons from studying, playing, friendship to even the feelings of school age.
Nguyen Phuong Uyen, group leader of group 1, said that the video is an extracurricular exercise to learn practical knowledge of civics at school. Each group is free to choose the topic or the way to express it through videos, presentations, etc. Phuong and the group members decided to choose to make a video with the topic of differences between generations of students.
The filming and editing process took place over two days. Taking advantage of recess and after-school hours, the group members quickly filmed the scenes. After being shown in class, the class's civics teacher also highly appreciated the group 1 members' videos for their creativity and impression.
The next video that has also gone viral on social media is a video from group 4, class 11 D4K95 with content about students' studies. The video is more than 5 minutes long and tells the story of a diligent and good student who knows nothing about social knowledge.
Ngo Thi Kim Anh, head of group 4, said that the video was inspired by the event of a female engineer who did not know El Nino or crab soup cooked with jute in the show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. Through the humorous laughter from the video, the members wanted to reflect a learning reality where the theory part is too heavy while the practice part is too little. In addition, due to the overprotection of many families, many students are still lacking in social knowledge.
From there, the students want to send a message to the Vietnamese education system as well as to parents and students today that they should not only focus on studying in books but also need to have more useful extracurricular activities and need to equip themselves with social knowledge./.
